Tseyi Tri makes it in the Navajo Times

There's an article in the "Sports Extra" section of the Navajo Times from Thursday, October 28, 2010 about the Tseyi Triathlon!

It features a short article by Cindy Yurth, which includes the top finisher's names and times, as well as two photos taken the day of the Triathlon!  One is an underwater photo of Lisa Cremer, 1st Place Individual Female Finisher, during the swim.  The other is a shot of Taneesha, Christian and Ila flexing for the camera before starting the swim!

The article does not seem to be on the newspaper's website, so get yourself a hard copy of Thursday's paper if you can!

OFFICIAL RESULTS are in!!!

THANK YOU to ALL PARTICIPANTS for being patient in the cold as we tallied the results on Saturday.

SEE RESULTS HERE!
(There are tabs at the bottom for Individual Overall Male, Individual Overall Female and Overall Relay)

Our "unofficial" results only contained one mistake, and our apologies go to Relay Team MONSTARS, who took second place in the Relay Division and was recognized instead as the Third Place Individual Male. Therefore, many apologies also to Steve Waite, who was in fact our Third Place Individual Male!

WAY TO GO EVERYONE!  Thanks for coming out to race in the cold!

RACE GUIDE

Hello all participants!

The race is ALMOST here!!!  Please read this RACE GUIDE!

Due to the recent heavy rains, there is a chance that we will be re-routing the bike and run course, but that will be determined in the morning.  Whatever the route, they will be well marked and the RACE IS STILL ON!!

The forecast predicts:
Tonight: A 20 percent chance of showers. Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. Southwest wind between 6 and 9 mph.

Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 60.

Therefore, temps will be between 40 and 60 degrees, slight chance of moisture - so dress appropriately.  Due to the cool temps, we will be allowing towels only (ie, no other race gear) inside the pool area, so that you can dry off BEFORE going outside to the transition area.  Also, if you would like to change out of your wet clothes completely you will have the option of going into the locker rooms to change and then back out through the pool area to the transition.  The added time to do this will be up to you.

I've created a race guide that reviews all rules and the schedule for the day.  PLEASE read this before hand.  It will also be provided in your race packet to read through when you check in, and we will review key points during the pre-race meeting.

INFO SESSION TONIGHT!!!

We are having another Information Session tonight for all interested participants.  If you are already registered, come on down to ask questions about the event, get tips on how to do it, or get your bike ready to go.
Tonight - Thursday, 10/21/10
6-8 pm
at the Aquatic Center

If you're not yet registered, then come on down to tonight's session to find a team or get registered!  We've extended registration through 8:30 am the morning of the race, but don't wait until then!  It's a lot easier for us if you register by tonight!!!

If you want to volunteer, come on by to find out how you can help on Saturday!

We will have one "Bike Mechanic" available to help with basic bike adjustments and to help repair flats if you need to get set up for the event, so bring your bike with you to the event if needed.

REGISTER NOW!

Hello interested triathlon participants!

Have you been considering racing, but still aren't sure?  Well, now's the time to register as time is running out!

This will be a very non-competitive race geared towards first-time triathletes, with a focus on getting people to try a race they've never done before.  We encourage you to give it a try even if you don't think you'll be very fast! (Stopping to rest during the swim is just fine!  Need a break as you climb the hill in the bike portion? No problem.  Try alternating walking and running during the 5k if you're not a strong runner.)

Or if you'd like to try it by just doing one leg of the race (ex: you want to bike, but don't like running...), but haven't found a team yet, then let us know!!!  We can help you find other people interested in doing the event as a relay team.

THERE WILL BE PRIZES!!! (and, shhh, don't tell....but with this small first-time event, you have a good chance of winning something!)

OR bring your kids down for our Kid's Triathlon!  It's FREE (registration still required), and is a short sample of putting the three sports together.  Even if they don't know how to swim, the kids will have a choice of doing 25 yards (one length) across the pool, or jogging across the shallow end and back for the swim portion.  Then they'll do a short half mile bike ride around the parking lots of the Aquatic Center and Community Center, run to the football field and around the track to the finish line!  There will be goody bags for all Kid Triathletes!

Swim UPDATE!

Attention!

The Swim portion of the event is now a tad bit shorter!

The swim will be 375 yards instead of the 400 yards listed on the flyer.  This allows us to keep swimmers in the correct direction of travel up and down each lane, and keep the finish near the exit doors nearest to the transition area.  Swimmers will swim 15 lengths of the pool, always staying on the right side of each lane, going under the lane lines to the next lane after each lap.
